Daniel Barkowitz has a long-standing interest in finance, developed during a twenty-year work history. He was most recently Dean of Financial Aid / Associate Dean of Student Affairs at Columbia University. From 2002 to 2009, Daniel was the Director of Student Financial Aid and Student Employment at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He now serves as Executive Director of Temple Beth Shalom, a 700-family synagogue in Needham.
Daniel was born in the Panama Canal Zone where he lived until he was fourteen, when his family moved to South Carolina. Daniel received his M.Ed. in Human Resource Education from Boston University and a B.Sc. in History from Northeastern University. He has a passion for singing, reading, and cooking. He and his wife, Rebekah, have two daughters, both of whom are members of the Concert Chorus. (Dedham - parent)
