Collaborations – Working together to share our strengths
Since 1995, Boston City Singers has worked to be a necessary part of the fabric of Boston’s neighborhoods. We place great importance on collaborations that expose us to an ever-growing repertoire of styles, genres and techniques, challenge and enhance our musical and performance capacity and forge bonds of camaraderie and shared interests with a wide range of youth from near and far. We value our relationship with New England Conservatory. Currently partnering with us are Abreu Fellow Aisha L. Bowden, Alysia Lee, and doctoral candidate in piano improvisation Tal Zilber. Community Music Center of Boston partners with us to provide instrument instruction to our Dorchester training chorus, supported by Johnson Strings.
WorldMusic/CRASHArts, Opera Boston and Berklee College of Music offer free/reduced rate concerts, supporting our “Global Voices” and “On Stage” initiatives.
Over the last 3 years, we have collaborated with Saengerfest Men’s Chorus, Yale Alumni Chorus, Coro Allegro, Zamir Chorale, Revels, Discovery Ensemble, Firebird Ensemble, Boston Classical Orchestra, and many more.
Partnerships with local churches and community organizations provide pro bono and/or discounted rehearsal space for Neighbhorhood Training Chorus programs including Youth and Family Enrichment Services in Hyde Park, Parish of All Saints, St. Gregory’s Church and Holy Family Parish in Dorchester and the First Church of Jamaica Plain. We are not church-affiliated, but over time we have formed partnerships with local churches who provide accessible, discounted rehearsal and performance spaces. Principals and teachers at a growing number of Boston Public and charter schools refer children and families, as does staff at the South Street & Bromley-Heath Housing Developments in Jamaica Plain. Bolt Bus Company provides transportation for tours and gear. Dorchester Board of Trade and Main Streets provide business networks.

"We heard nothing but high praise for Saturday's joint concert which was memorable in all ways. It's a treat to hear those pure young voices so ably prepared. You have a wonderful ensemble."
– Peter Fenton, President, Boston Saengerfest Men's Chorus
