Kathleen Blixt joined the staff of Boston City singers in 2006 after relocating to Boston from New York, where she was active as a singer, conductor, and teacher. She holds both BS in Music Education and Master of Music in Performance degrees, and was for 27 years on the Vocal, Choral Conducting, and Music Education Faculty at Hofstra University on Long Island
Her career activites have included preparation and coaching for many theater productions, and the recording of several CDs. She is the founder and director of Voci da Camera, a New York-based professional ensemble of sixteen singers, and has conducted and performed in Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary, Austria, Germany and throughout the United States.
In addition to her continued work as clinician, guest conductor and adjudicator, Ms. Blixt has established a voice studio in Milton and serves as Musician Associate for her husband, Frederick Backhaus, at All Saints Parish, Ashmont.
